How do I type a measurement?

Number, then its unit: 1 1 Ft 4 In 1 / 2 In gives 11' 4-1/2". The strip under the display always says what the app understood and what it is waiting for.

I paid and moved to a new phone

Open the unlock screen and tap Restore. The purchase is tied to your Apple Account, not to the device.

Why does a rafter length end in an odd fraction?

Rafters are diagonals, and diagonals are irrational — they never land on an exact fraction. The app rounds them to the fraction you picked and says so. Stair risers, by contrast, add back to the total exactly.

Which code does it use?

The one for the country set in Settings: the IRC 2024 for the United States and Canada, Approved Document K for the United Kingdom, and the NCC 2025 for Australia. Habitable-room and escape-window checks are United States only, and the function is hidden elsewhere rather than showing limits that are not yours.
